Hmm... what's this all about?
... notice the bright white speck in the centre of the picture? Ah... the good ol' moon.
Tonight we had a chance to catch a rare celestial event. It's the eclipse of the moon as it slides into the earth's shadow. For a couple of hours at least. Singapore'll probably miss it because its daytime, unless you have a really good telescope.
Wanna closer view? Here you go... but don't expect too much from a 12x optical zoon digital camera (LOL)!
You may have noticed the normally bright white disc being exchanged for an erie reddish hue. Why, that's because of the filtration of the Earth's sunsets and sunrises as it passes through our atmosphere and gets bent and scattered across the lunar surface.
The next lunar eclipse visible would be sometime in Dec, 2010.
Enjoy...

It's Valentine's Day!
Dan and I celebrated Valentine's Day on Total Defence Day (15 Feb)... oops... sorry, job hazard. Okay, anyway he had classes on that Valentine's evening so we decided to go out the next day.
We explored the Christopher Columbus Park. If we got it right, Columbus is the founder of America. As usual, we tried to play with our camera. Took a few shots here and there and tried to get some scenery and mood shots. We kind of like the feel of this reflection photo though I must say we still need to work on our skills. Well, hopefully we can also get a better camera. =)
After the stroll in the park, we got to Boston Children's Museum. I had always wanted to visit BCM because we don't have such thing back in Singapore. It was wise to make a trip there on Friday after 5pm because it only cost us USD1 per adult! OMG! So cheap, chip, chip, chip, chip! We really had a fun time there. It was kind of like Science Centre but it houses more interactive play for topics such as music, construction, animals and moral values. I really love the place. I wish I could work there. And I hope next time I can bring our children to visit BCM. =)

We finally learned to appreciate photographs of flying birds.
It was really tough capturing them soaring in the sky.
This photo was like our 10th try?
We kind of lost count and our fingers just went numb...

Ok, we took a shot from the periscope because it was FREE. Hahaha.
Back in Singapore, we didn't bother because we had to pay for it.

This was fun! We just stood in front of a green backdrop and TADA!
We became part of the cartoon characters!

And there was a girl named Doris
(erm.... excuse me... it's the one on the right, not the left... thanks).
She also waited at the bus stop.

A Trip Down Memory Lane
Facebook is an unbelievable tool. Really.
I was buzzed by a long-time friend just a couple of hours ago whom I've not met since our Polytechnic days in the mid 1990s. But because of the FB phenomena, we've linked up again; and with several class of 98 graduates as well!
As I was skimming through my friend's FB photo album, I found this photo taken during those soccer-crazy days of our lives... now I recall why we had treated this photo in sepia... simply to add to the nostalgic touch when we review it some point later. Come to think of it, the move was almost... clairvoyant!
Listed in the photo are Adrian, me, Kevin, Sugumaran (Back Row, L-R) and E-Gene, Eugene, Kim Han, Jerry and Meng Lee (Front Row, L-R). 2 short of a full team, but we had great fun in those days playing court soccer just behind the polytechnic.
My, was I skinny in those days. Nowadays, I usually don't bare my top to protect the modesty of the cameras... but this has been a nice trip down memory lane.
All thanks to Facebook.

Happy Lunar New Year! Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Our new dining table and sleeper's sofa from Bob's Furniture came in today, just in time for Reunion Dinner! Don't be fooled by this dining set because it is really high and huge. According to the three nice and friendly delivery men, this set is value for money because not just does it look aesthetically good, it is also solid and sturdy. We can actually expand the table to accommodate more people but since there are just two of us, we are happy to have it as it is. In fact, we had to move Dan's study table and book shelf into our bedroom to make way for this dining table. So no more study with a view but dining with a view. =) We've also got four high stools and one lazy Bob. At Bob's Furniture, they don't call it lazy Susan.
Take a look at what Dan and I had cooked for reunion dinner last night. Three dishes and one soup. Yummy! Not bad for our first reunion dinner in Boston. The first dish was pan fried salmon. It symbolized Nian Nian You Yu! Next, we had mixed Asparagus, Broccoli and Prawns that symbolized He Ha Dai Xiu! Then, we had chicken thighs in oyster sauce that symbolized Ji Yun Lian Lian! To top it off, we had soup of day - a mixture of everything we could find - potatoes, sweet corns, cabbage, chicken bones, onions and ginger. Erm, so it symbolized Da Jia Yi Qi Fa!
