Fatal T Crash

I received news yesterday evening that two Green D Line trolley - also known fondly as the "T" - collided. Initially I was worried because Daniel always take this line to his college and that was around the time when he usually goes to campus. I checked the internet without hesitation and for a while I was relieved to know that Dan's class had started when the accident took place.

Nevertheless, I read more about the crash. It was unfortunate that the lady conductor, aged 24, died in the crash after being trapped in the trolley for about 3 hours.

It was an unfortunate event but seriously, we were relieved that the accident took place near Woodland Station and not in Boston city itself. As you can see, the area is more accessible to the emergency responders. Had it occurred in the underground portions of the line, the rescue would have been more complicated.

There have been a series of unfortunate events - earthquake in China,  cyclone in Myanmar and tornadoes in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Iowa in United States. Let us pray for peace and hope for the victims and the survivors. For the rest us, cherish what you have and who you have. Live life to the fullest!

Movie Marathon

Spring break has come to an end. It marks the beginning of another busy term for Dan because he has four evening classes a week for the next 1.5-2 months. He believes that once the term starts, he will not have much leisure time. Therefore we went for a movie marathon - three movies in three days - maybe not much by your standards, but considering other repeats of repeated movies we have watched on cable TV, I guess it is still appropriate.

We prefer the first sequel of the Narnia Chronicle. The idea of walking into a land of fantasy through  a wardrobe is just brilliant. Like many sequels, Prince Caspian seems lacking in the oomph that the first movie generated...

Using the usual concept of the good triumphing over the evil, Iron Man has good sense of humor and of course great effects. Yes, a feel good movie for sure... witty jokes and a reflective piece about a Road to Damascus-like transformative experience...

Harrison Ford's character is like ginger... it gets hotter as it gets older. We like the way the story takes into account his aging screen persona, which syncs well with his previous stories, and there's lots of continuity. If you've watched the previous movies such as "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and "The Last Crusade," you'll catch nuggets here and there in this movie. OK, shan't tell too much... catch it! Personally, this the best out of the three - it's from Steven Spielberg, what do you expect? Maybe we are biased here but seriously, his movies have yet to disappoint us. I have watched E.T six times and still not gotten bored from it. From adventures, to sharks, to aliens and robots, Spielberg has done it all. He is indeed the master in movie-making. Bravo!

我愿意

We just downloaded this song composed by Huang Guo Lun, delivered by Faye Wong (王菲). It depicts a love song but it has a deeper meaning, meant specially for the Lord.

We just realised that there is a second segment which is not commonly heard. We tried to search for the lyrics, but in vain. Nevertheless, enjoy the song. May it be a reminder of your relationship with the Lord.

Reference to the second segment of the lyrics, courtesy of Rev Chern:

Snip it away!

I made a bold decision yesterday at Vidal Sassoon...

Academic Award Ceremony 2008

Dan received an award for his research paper. Praise God! We got an almost free Mac Book Pro and a free printer because of this award. We really thank God for his provision and his guidance. =) Now, no more fighting over one machine...

Can you see the thickness of his reports? One is a mere 70 page and the other is 100 page!

The Big Apple Part 4

My parents had left for Singapore so Dan and I continued to explore NYC. We had planned to visit Statue of Liberty but it rained the whole day so we were forced to go indoors. What could be a better place than TOYS "R" US?

There is a ferris wheel in the mall! However, I could not give it a try because it is only meant for kids accompanied by parents. Maybe I should just grab a kid and go for a ride.

Wanna know why the T-Rex is so irritated? Check out the flying saucer prancing around its face...

LEGO replica of the Chrsyler Building.

Grand Central Terminal vs Brick Central Terminal

This is a cool 2 storey building within the mall for Barbie lovers.

I was in my wannabe mood again.

Reminds me of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris! But this is actually in Chinatown NYC!!!

The Big Apple Part 3

On the 86th floor of the Empire State Building

Can you spot the Statue of Liberty?

An excellent composition, a wonderful angle and a brilliant smile.

The famous Flatiron Building. Built in 1902 to fill the awkward triangular space.

Dan would not miss the opportunity to snap a photo of a passing fire engine from the Observatory Deck.

The birds LOVED the tourists' attention. They posed generously while our cameras went clicking away.

This bird was all puffed up cos it was really very windy and cold.

The Big Apple Part 2

I love this composition of this photo (Chrysler Building) taken by Daniel.

The subway runs 24/7... NYC, the city that never sleeps.

Seeking solace in my mum cos the subway was FILLED with the stench of pee. What to do? When you need to go, you need to go.

The entrance of the Museum of Natural History. Papa and I love this place!

Fossil of a fish that died million years ago. Super big siah.

Giant turtle

This is a real tree trunk, no kidding.
